Well winter has definitely arrived, we’ve cranked up the heating in the All Wheels office and orange earmuffs are now a mandatory item! After a blistering Sydney summer it’s time to rug up and enjoy some crisp cold weather. Which definitely doesn’t mean staying at home. There’s plenty to do during the colder months in Sydney and beyond, so we thought we’d do a round up of a few of our favourites:

Blue Mountains Yulefest

Where better to celebrate all the Christmasy trimmings than the beautiful, and very chilly, Blue Mountains. Many resorts and attractions are transformed into a winter wonderland during Yulefest with roaring fires, festive feasts, crisp days and storybook scenery and even the occasional snowfall. And the happy chappy in the red suit often puts in a special ‘off-season’ appearance all the way from the North Pole. Ho ho ho!

The Snow

There are plenty of options for snow bunnies of all standards in NSW, our ski fields are filled with great resorts and accommodation mostly located around 5 hours from Sydney. Accommodation includes bed and breakfast cottages, lodges, boutique hotels and backpackers which can be found located within the ski fields, in villages near the main ski fields or towns around the Snowy Mountains area such as Jindabyne, Cooma, or even Canberra. There are several resorts to chose from including Thredbo, Perisher and Charlotte Pass, so grab your skis, boots and poles, throw them in the back of an All Wheels rental and get your ski on.

Cool Yule Darling Harbour

Rug up and chill out at one of the most loved winter events in Sydney! If you’re looking for a new and exciting school holiday activity or day out while you’re visiting Sydney you could do worse than the frosty fun to be had at Darling Harbour’s Cool Yule! Strap on your skates and take a glide (or tumble!) on the Cool Yule Ice Rink, you can take part in Learn to Skate lessons to get everyone twirling, gliding and whirling away on the outdoor ice rink and don’t miss the chance to have a play in the Snow Pit.

Sydney Ice Arena

Located in Baulkham Hills just 5 minutes from the M2 and M7 Motorways and next door to Norwest Markettown Shopping Centre, Sydney Ice Arena is a great place to try ice skating, or even take part in figure skating or ice hockey if you’re game.

Winter by the Beach

Although the weather may be cooling down, Sydney’s mild winter weather still offers plenty of opportunities to head outdoors and make the most of the city’s beachside walks. You can’t live in or visit Sydney without visiting our stunning beaches, whatever the weather, so put on a few layers and enjoy a brisk walk or leisurely stroll along the popular Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk, or head north and follow the shoreline of Sydney Harbour along the Manly to Spit Bridge Coastal Walk. There are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beaches of NSW even if it’s not in your swimmers.

So call All Wheels today and explore everything that NSW has to offer this winter with a cosy, warm rental vehicle to get you there!
